Severe itching anus

What causes itching around the anus? How to get rid of itching in anus? What does it mean if your anus is itching? Why does your anus itch after pooping?


Sometimes anal itching is the result of a specific skin condition, such as psoriasis or contact dermatitis. These include chronic diarrhea, hemorrhoids, anal tumors and diseases that affect the whole body, such as diabetes.

Other things that may cause anal irritation or itching include: Tea and cola. What are additional symptoms associated with anal itching ? The intensity of anal itching and the amount of inflammation increases from the direct trauma of scratching and the presence of moisture. At its most intense, anal itching causes intolerable discomfort that often is described as burning.


Most cases of anal or rectal itching can be diagnosed by doing a physical exam. In severe cases, the skin around the anus can tear producing liquid discharge. Itchy rectum would cause discomfort and soreness in the area and it would be greatly annoying for self and others.


Moisture from sweat or diarrhea may cause itching.

Some foods irritate the anus when they are expelled during a bowel movement. Infections such as pinworms, yeast,. Pruritus ani is the medical term for anal itching or itchy bottom. It is defined as intense itching around the anus. Though the condition predominately affects toddlers and school going children, it may also affect adults.


Though severe anal itching is the most predominant symptom, some of the other symptoms associated with pinworm infection include loss of appetite, irritability and restlessness, sleeplessness and regular stomach upsets. Anal itching and burning is a common symptom of pinworms, an intestinal parasite. Pinworms are the most common intestinal parasite found in the United States, according to the MayoClinic. Additional symptoms include abdominal discomfort and pain. Medically, anal itching is referred to as pruritus ani.


There are a number of conditions that can cause anal itching. Causes can include consumption of spicy foods, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, certain medications, and infestations with pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis). The itching may become worse at night or after a bowel movement. Scratching the area in further irritation and makes the itching worse instead of relieving it. Scratching with the fingernails may result in skin damage or an infection.


If the itch-scratch cycle persists, it can lead to extreme discomfort, soreness, and burning. Stools (faeces) being in contact with the skin around the anus. This may be caused by sweating,.

Burning around the anus or intense itching in your anal region can be a very embarrassing and irritating condition. The burning sensation in the anus can sometimes occur after a bowel movement, eating spicy foods, or because of hemorrhoids. As itchy bottom is a symptom rather than a condition itself, many cases have an underlying cause, for example: a bacterial infection – such as those that cause streptococcal infections.


Chronic itching around the anal area is called pruritus ani (proo-RIE-tus A-nie). Hence, it is not difficult to trigger dangerous health matters for the females’ fertility. Also, anal itching is a sign of revealing severe health diseases like fistula, anal fissure, skin inflammation or hemorrhoids owing to anal eczema, pinworm or nerves.
