House (Danish: Tallet), also known as Big House, is a large mixed-use development built in the shape of a figure on the southern perimeter of the new suburb of Ørestad in Copenhagen, Denmark. House’ 50maccommodates 4residential units. HOUSE is located in Southern Ørestad on the edge of the Copenhagen Canal and with a view of the open spaces of Kalvebod Fælled.

A house offering homes in all its bearings for people in all of life’s stages: the young and the ol nuclear families and singles, families that grow and. House ’ 50maccommodates 4residential units. The base consists of 10mbusinesses, spread out at street level alongside the surrounding main streets, and at the Northern court yard that houses an office building. House is partly for rent housing and partly residential property varying from to 1m2. The name House reflects the building’s plan in the form of an 8.

The project built in Copenhagen by BIG architectural studios is one of Denmark’s biggest residential and commercial developments. Our vision for the House was to create a sense of community and strengthen the social interaction between its residents, which became possible only through my long-term collaboration with BIG. Where social life, the spontaneous encounter and neighbor interaction traditionally is restricted to the ground level, the House allows it to expand all the way to the top. The fact that the House has now achieved this honorable status, can be seen as a symbol of a piece of architectural alchemy that works.


Moreover, I am genuinely happy that our long and inspiring cooperation with Per Høpfner and St. Frederikslund is rewarded in the other parts of the world. We propose to approach the spaces and activities for The LEGO House through the lens of a core element of LEGO’s philosophy – Inventing the future of play through systematic creativity. As an idea, The LEGO House can be conceived as a three dimensional village of interlocking and overlapping buildings and spaces. Ingels has created many notable buildings and is highly regarded in the architectural community.
